My writing life has been less active over the last few months, probably the result of moving to Minneapolis, starting a new job in a different field, battling tonsillitis and post-infection arthritis, and publishing the first single-author book available through Bartleby Snopes Press (not to mention trying to get a second one ready in time for a September release). Even with all of this going on, I’ve managed to move forward with a few projects.
My serial novel, Misty Me and Me, is now up to 26 chapters, and it has cracked the 1000 vote mark over at JukePop Serials. To celebrate, I have this nifty little badge:
I’d like to thank everyone who has read any portion of the story or voted for any of the chapters. I do appreciate the loyal following this strange little porn/adventure story seems to have.
In other writing news, my short story collection, Nagging Wives, Foolish Husbands, is set for a September release through Martian Lit. The cover art is in its final stages (I hope to share it for you soon), and the final blurbs are coming in. So far, I’ve been compared to Kafka, Pynchon, and Vonnegut! While I’m a bit skeptical that the collection really deserves such praise, I’ll let you be the final judge. More details coming soon of course.
I haven’t done very much fiction writing during the last few months. My second novel, tentatively titled The Funeral Attendee, is currently in the hands of a fellow writer and editor. I’m hoping she tears it apart. I know that it’s nowhere near ready for publication at this point.
In my non-writing life, I haven’t been able to run for two months now. Well, that’s not entirely true. I completed two two-minute runs yesterday morning. I would imagine that I looked more comical than most of the awkward runners I laugh at from my car. I was wearing basketball shorts and around-the-ear Bose headphones. I was running stiff and slow. I know I looked ridiculous.
In lieu of running, I’ve been working a lot on juggling speed and strength. In fact, I established another juggling world record (because why wouldn’t someone curl a 25-pound dumbbell while juggling two 4-pound balls?) and reclaimed one I had lost. I’ve been using juggling as a cardio routine to supplement my weight routine. I had talked about Total Juggling Fitness awhile back, and now it is even closer to almost becoming a reality.
Overall, life is very good right now. Once I get the second flash novel released through Bartleby Snopes Press, I plan to really pick up my own writing. And maybe I’ll be able to do a real run (or even a joggle!) again soon.
Next week I plan to blog about the value of the guest blog. Speaking of, I might be looking for some guest bloggers soon. Let me know if you are interested.
